Hong Kong Facts

Hong Kong is situated on the southeast coast of China at the mouth of the Pearl River facing the South China Sea. Covering an area of 1,104 square kilometres, the territory is made up of Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories, which includes 262 outlying islands. Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of life; a sophisticated fusion of East and West; an age-old synthesis of cultures and traditions; and a unique city where new and old meet at every turn. Despite its image as a bustling city, more than 70% of Hong Kong's land mass is rural mountains, valleys and coastline - all within easy reach. It offers a memorable and diverse experience of stunning cityscapes, natural green countryside, and living culture and heritage with exquisite authentic Asian cuisines and a truly ‘Shopping Paradise’. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate with distinct seasons. During Spring (between March and May) there are pleasant breezes, plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures, and many people regard these as the best months of the year to visit Hong Kong.
