RESEARCH CENTRES

COCHRANE HONG KONG

To promote Cochrane evidence translation and dissemination in different languages and formats, Cochrane Hong Kong and Cochrane Nursing organised the first Knowledge Translation Awards competition this year. Among the submissions received worldwide, our judging panel selected six winners for the Knowledge Translation Creativity Award category and 13 winners for the Cochrane Evidence Translation Award category. A hybrid award presentation ceremony will be arranged shortly.

Since October, Cochrane Hong Kong has translated 15 Cochrane Reviews into Simplified Chinese, which are now available in the Cochrane Library and the Cochrane China Network website. To further enhance translation quality, our translation team had a meeting at the end of October to discuss the rules, procedures and requirements for translation and editing. Besides, our Centre posted 33 tweets (19 Cochrane Reviews, 12 Cochrane Clinical Answers, and two Chinese translations) via Twitter @CochraneNursing.

In November, further discussions were made with Southern Medical University about co-hosting The First Southern Forum on Global Health and The First Kylin International Symposium on Implementation Science in 2023.

ASIA-PACIFIC GENOMIC AND GENETIC NURSING CENTRE

After obtaining ethics approval, the pilot study exploring genetic variants for identifying individuals with autism spectrum disorder commenced. Participant recruitment in collaboration with the Department of Paediatrics at CUHK is currently underway.

Another study involving the conduction of a systematic review on the potential use of decision aids to facilitate genetic counselling was completed. The manuscript reporting its findings is currently under peer review.

Regarding the ongoing study in collaboration with PolyU on brain-age models for predicting Alzheimer’s disease, structural magnetic resonance imaging data on participants has been collected to further analyse their brain structural features and brain activities. These data will be used to construct more brain-age models as the project progresses.
