RESEARCH CENTRES
COCHRANE HONG KONG
In April this year, Prof. Wai Tong CHIEN, Prof. Janita CHAU, and Prof. Suzanne LO met with several senior nursing officers and nurse consultants from the Hospital Authority Headquarter Office and clinical units/ departments, respectively, to discuss about conducting a clinical trial on the procedure of nasogastric tube insertion across public hospitals in Hong Kong.
Cochrane Hong Kong is conducting a cross-sectional survey to investigate the needs and expectations towards the roles and contributions of Cochrane Nursing among healthcare providers, including nurses, allied healthcare professionals, clinical managers, policymakers, researchers, academics, and students. Currently, data collection using online questionnaires (English version and Chinese version) is in progress.
Since May, we have translated two Cochrane Reviews into Simplified Chinese, which are now available in the Cochrane Library and the Cochrane China Network webpage. Besides, we have posted 26 tweets (12 Cochrane Reviews, 12 Cochrane Clinical Answers, and two Chinese translated summaries) via Twitter @CochraneNursing.

Participant recruitment is currently underway for the ongoing study examining the genetic variations associated with autism spectrum disorder. So far, we have recruited 22 autistic children from 17 families and collected their blood samples for genetic analyses.
The systematic review on the use of decision aids in supporting genetic counselling has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Clinical Nursing. The article is currently being processed by the journal for official publication.
The study on brain ageing, conducted in collaboration with PolyU is progressing well. A total of 111 adults (aged 18–81) were recruited for the study; and their brain images were scanned through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The morphological features of the participants’ brains were analysed; and the findings were presented at the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR) conference in Hong Kong in early May this year.
