Following a vibrant series of orientation activities, our new semester is off to an energetic start, building on our School’s recent successes across multiple fronts. I’m immensely proud to share that our School has advanced from 10th to 5th globally in Nursing in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS). Additionally, two associate professors were named 2026 Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing and will be formally inducted in October. In the latest funding cycle, our professorial staff achieved encouraging results in securing competitive funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC). Notably, Prof. Helen CHAN was awarded an RGC Strategic Topics Grant of HK$21.4 million to develop a one-stop portal integrating advance care planning (ACP) with artificial intelligence (AI). This highlights our School’s growing leadership in engaging interdisciplinary partners to advance large-scale innovation and AI-driven care models. On 10 September, we successfully launched the inaugural Nursing and Healthcare Innovation & Insights Dialogue Series webinar, "Rethinking Psychological Interventions and Care: Innovative and Emerging Pathways in Mental Health". Prof. Connie CHONG and I joined two distinguished international speakers—Prof. Kenneth FUNG (Canada) and Prof. Baljinder SAHDRA (Australia)—to share insights on global mental health, personalised care and AI-enabled interventions. Attracting over 1,000 participants from 12 countries/regions, the event reinforced our role as an international hub for high-level scholarly exchange.
