The School’s recent activities align perfectly with the International Nurses Day 2024 theme, which emphasises the economic power of care and the impact of nursing. Here are some major highlights: The pinnacle of our internationalisation efforts was our successful hosting of the 9th Nursing Symposium on Cancer Care cum 1st Genomic and Genetic Nursing Forum last month (see recap below). The success of this event reinforces our long-standing mission to serve as a world-class hub for hosting high-level events to harness collective wisdom, foster meaningful discussions and catalyse translational impact that can bring tangible benefits for advancing global health. We also had the privilege of hosting several distinguished visitors, who played a vital role in enhancing our international standing in academia and research. Among our esteemed guests was Prof. Philip CHIU, Dean of CU Medicine. During Prof. Chiu's visit, we advocated for Faculty-level support to further our global initiatives. Furthermore, the insightful research seminars delivered by Prof. Mark HAYTER from Manchester Metropolitan University and Prof. Sandie McCARTHY from Griffith University, aided in our preparations for the forthcoming Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) and grant writing endeavours. This summer marks an exciting time for some of our undergraduate students, as they will participate in a mainland exchange programme sponsored by Project Empadurance. In addition, the recent renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sichuan University, alongside the newly signed MOU with Karaganda Medical University, opens doors to even more scholarly exchange and collaborative research opportunities across national and Central Asian borders. Together, let’s continue to sharpen our competitive edge and deliver more impactful contributions worldwide!
