RESEARCH CENTRES

COCHRANE HONG KONG

In recent two months, Cochrane Hong Kong has translated both the abstracts and plain language summaries of 31 Cochrane Reviews into simplified Chinese; and three Cochrane plain language summaries into traditional Chinese in collaboration with Cochrane Taiwan. These translations have been published, with the reviewed interventions targeting cancer, cardiovascular diseases, infectious diseases (e.g. COVID-19), neurological diseases (e.g. stroke, dementia), mental health problems (e.g. autism), musculoskeletal problems (e.g. low back pain), eye problems, etc.

Our PhD in Nursing student Zhao Wenqian won the Third Prize in the first Cochrane Evidence Translation and Dissemination Competition organised by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Cochrane Simplified Chinese Translation & Dissemination Working Group, and co-organised by Cochrane Hong Kong in late 2021. Her winning project is a set of creative cartoons vividly highlighting the key messages of the selected Cochrane Review titled 'Effectiveness of psychosocial interventions for reducing parental substance misuse'.

ASIA-PACIFIC GENOMIC AND GENETIC NURSING CENTRE

The Centre has published one paper in collaboration with China Kadoorie Biobank, and two systematic reviews on the exploration of potential genetic biomarkers for heart failure and association of genetic polymorphisms with psychological symptoms in cancer, respectively.

Prof. Mary Waye has collaborated with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on a study related to genetic analysis of Alzheimer's disease in Hong Kong, funded by PolyU Internal Seed Grant.
