Dear friends, colleagues, students, and alumni,
Despite facing many challenges in this turbulent academic year, the pandemic has nonetheless acted as a catalyst for us to leverage innovation and technology to advance knowledge transfer. Knowledge transfer, regarded as the ‘third mission’ of higher education (apart from teaching and research), encompasses strategic, innovative and impactful initiatives to transform knowledge into real-life applications. Our ongoing efforts on knowledge transfer can be exemplified by many large-scale international conferences that we successfully organised in the past, such as the 7th Pan-Pacific Nursing Conference in 2021 and the 1st Cochrane Hong Kong Symposium in 2019, as well as the following international events scheduled for this summer:
Y.K. Pao Foundation Centre for Nursing Excellence in Chronic Illness Care (CIC Centre) Webinar: All are welcome to join this virtual event that aims to examine innovations and strategies supporting clients with chronic illness and their families across the lifespan. With renowned scholars/experts from Canada, Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong as guest speakers, the webinar guarantees an enriching experience to gain exposure and insights into global development of chronic illness care, and participants will surely benefit from engaging in a high-level dialogue on this specialty area.
Knowledge Translation Awards 2022: This is the first year our Cochrane Hong Kong organises this competition to promote university students worldwide as drivers and innovators in knowledge translation and dissemination. Through this competition, we aim to make Cochrane evidence more accessible and practicable in everyday nursing practice to support effective and efficient health decision-making, and to further extend the scope, reach and impact of Cochrane evidence on nursing and healthcare practice in both local and global contexts.
These two summer events call for your active support to realise our common goal of embracing innovation and accessibility to create a healthier tomorrow for all. As our city and the whole world are gradually regaining normalcy, I eagerly look forward to your participation and support in these two events as well as many more knowledge transfer activities that are yet to come.
I wish you all an enriching and fulfilling summer break!
