CUHK survey shows multiple challenges to parental HPV vaccination decision-making for daughters among the South Asian ethnic minorities in Hong Kong
July 26, 2022Funded by the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Nethersole School of Nursing at CU Medicine has conducted a study to identify the challenges and enablers affecting South Asian mothers’ intention to vaccinate their daughters against HPV. The results showed that South Asian mothers generally demonstrated a lack of awareness and knowledge of cervical cancer, HPV infection and HPV vaccines. The high cost of vaccination and lack of financial subsidies were also major barriers faced by these mothers when deciding whether their daughters should receive the HPV vaccine. ......

February 2, 2021The Nethersole School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organised the “Community Caring Day cum CUHK Nethersole School of Nursing Alumni Carnival cum 30th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony” on January 30 to embark on the year-long celebrations for the School’s 30th Anniversary in 2021. The event attracted over 4,500 registrations for its various activities, with participation by older adults in over 20 local community centres and aged homes, alumni and their families, and the general public. To protect the participants from the risk of COVID-19, the majority of the activities during the day were conducted virtually.

May 23, 2019More than 700 health care professionals from over 20 countries or regions attended the First Cochrane Hong Kong Symposium organised by The Nethersole School of Nursing (the School) of the Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) today (23 May). The symposium runs for two days (23-24 May), followed by post-symposium workshops on 27-28 May. The theme of the symposium is “Paving the Way for and Achieving Excellence in Evidence-informed Health Care in the Belt and Road Regions”.
