Mission and Achievements
The mission of the Nethersole School of Nursing is to excel in research so that nursing knowledge can be generated to inform nursing practice. Our research effort has been synergized through the establishment of three research theme groups: cardiovascular and acute care, gerontology and long-term care, and cancer and palliative care. With the support from the University, our Nursing Research and Basic Science Laboratory was established in 2015 with the aim of infusing basic science knowledge into nursing research.
During the period from 2014 to 2017, the School has obtained external competitive grants amounting to over HK$48 million from various funding sources including Research Grants Council General Research Fund, Health and Medical Research Fund, Health Care and Promotion Fund, Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board Research Fund, Community Investment and Inclusion Fund, and AIDS Trust Fund. The results have been widely published in top ranking international refereed journals, such as Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, International Journal of Cardiology, Internat ional Journal of Nursing Studies, and Psycho-Oncology, etc. The School has also published more than 170 invited and peer-reviewed conference papers.
